Like The Snake was a rough idea I would sometimes play in with the guys at our gigs during soundcheck. Although I recorded some initial demos in Hamburg it was the last piece to be finished for the album recorded mostly back in LA when I returned from Germany. The theme and the feel of the song fit so well I decided to include it.

Everyone has people in their lives that trigger them. Whether it’s family, friends a lover or a stranger, no one seems to be immune to this phenomenon. I was inspired to write “Like The Snake” from a place of extreme reaction. I had just been triggered during a phone conversation and needed an outlet before I let my venom flow. Writing these lyrics was pure catharsis. Inspired by a trip to India where I saw snakes everywhere but in particular river snakes whose survival skills amazed me. There is a spiritual element to this piece as well; that we are travelers made of light in these disguises called bodies, doing our work to expand our consciousness, creating the people, events and circumstances in our lives to grow and the triumph or defeat we choose to experience afterward.
